Designed for Ultra Low Power
ANT was born out of the need to develop the very lowest available power solution for Nike’s foot pod to watch communication. In 2000, Dynastream Innovations Inc. designed the Triax Elite foot pod that measured speed and distance for running shoe giant, Nike. While the data collected via the food pod was immediately embraced, the need for a wireless low power protocol became obvious. Tenacious minds with determined mission converged and the seeds were planted for ANT wireless technology.
In 2004, ANT engaged with Nordic on the 2.4 GHz platform and ANT progressed from the conceptual to the practical. Soon after, ANT became its own entity and forged its way in the world of wireless networks. Named as per the tiny, productive insect that is noted for its efficiency and strength, ANT technology functions at two levels which is analogous to the physical world of ants. The above-ground world is visible to all and leads to conceptual design solutions that are practical and real. The underground world of the ant is unseen - invisible yet incredibly productive and impactful. Similarly, the black box of wireless design leads to a solution that works beyond expectation.
