ANT+ Alliance Symposium a Great Success!
Over 55 members of the ANT+ Alliance convened for the first annual ANT+ Alliance symposium in Kananaskis, Alberta. Representing major brands, silicon providers, designers and manufacturers the attending ANT+ Alliance members reaffirmed both the technological and business advantages of collaborating in this open managed network.
Here what some of our attendees had to say:
Jim Dotter, CEO PC Coach
“Becoming part of the ANT+ Alliance is possibly the most important business decision we've made this year. The possibilities for cooperation continue to multiply as more companies make the commitment to ANT+, which is quickly becoming the de facto standard in our industry.
Attending the symposium made it clear that the member companies are committed to an interoperable business model. This will make life so much easier for end users, as plug and play components begin to become the norm.”
Rick Ciervo Systems Engineering Manager
Timex Group USA, Inc.
“Timex selected the ANT radio platform because it offered the data performance we required combined with the ultra low-power consumption and long battery life that our customers have come to expect from our products. ANT+ and the ANT+ Alliance enhance the value of the radio platform by ensuring compatibility between our products and those from our Alliance partners, such as home gym equipment – this was something that was problematic for us in the past when we used our own proprietary radio system. And it’s not just a technology advantage – we also appreciate the ease with which we can develop entirely new business and product partnerships knowing that the technology won’t get in the way of product development.
We really enjoyed attending the ANT+ Symposium and found the networking opportunities alone worth the price of admission, not to mention the opportunity to learn a genuine Alberta cowboy song – sung by a Norwegian no less! The technical presentations were excellent and the open and frank discussions regarding the future of ANT and ANT+ were valuable for all of us. We plan on attending next year for sure, and with any luck, we’ll be able to present a few surprises of our own!”
Winfried Tiedge - Managing Director TARA Systems
“The ANT+ Alliance is an excellent open-minded community with a solid basis, engaged and enthusiastic partners with a clear vision for future products that are of high value for the consumer. The ANT+ branding and co-marketing opportunities let me expect a fast return on my investment. We see the potential of combining consumer, lifestyle, sports and medical applications under the ANT+ technology umbrella.”
Scott Hamilton, Electronic Product Engineer, Concept2 Inc.
“Attending the ANT+ Alliance Symposium was an outstanding opportunity to network with most of the key ANT+ players. In addition, it allowed members to gain understanding of the breadth of opportunities for ultra low power wireless devices as well as the depth of market penetration for ANT+.”
Carl Gulbronson, Business Development, R&D, International Sales,
Kurt Manufacturing, Cycling Products Division
“While my attendance at the ANT+ Symposium was predicated on finding a wireless solution for a single product for our Cycling Division, I now envision a myriad of applications for ANT's ultra low power wireless systems for Kurt's Industrial Products and Quality Control Operations. The quality of ANT’s products combined with the knowledge and support of world class partners, like Nordic Semiconductor and Texas Instruments make the ANT+ system the best wireless solution.”
Marco Bühler, Managing Director, Beurer GmbH.
“ANT+ is the new gold standard for wireless transmission in sports and home health care sector when ultra low power consumption is required as in battery driven monitoring devices.
The interoperability between different manufacturers and brands brings additional business opportunities to life, such as a combined sports monitoring and weight management systems.
The ANT+ Alliance and the first ANT+ Symposium are of great help to find the right partners for future business models, which is a key requirement in an innovative and growing industry.”
Dan Dacko, Product Manager, Trek Bicycle
“For Trek, a bicycle company, being a part of the ANT+ Alliance allows us to create value-added integration without having to create a high end devices outside of our core competencies. The B2B was great - it allowed me to meet and start discussions with companies I did not know existed. We can then concentrate on our specialty, the vehicle, and possibly incorporate technologies of other ANT+ members that were not necessarily created for cycling but work well.”
Rick Plavcan, Design Engineer, Nielsen-Kellerman Inc.
“The value of our membership in the ANT Alliance begins with the technology. ANT's low overhead and Nordic's low power make this solution the biggest bang for our buck. Add the Alliance into this mix and you get a synergy of good ideas supporting and expanding ANT.
ANT will only get better as long as Dynastream continues to allow its members a voice in the perfecting and growth of the ANT interface - which I believe Dynastream is committed to.
The symposium was fantastic. I'm already missing the Canadian air. We met many companies whose products offer us growth potential directly from their ANT products or as a partner for new technology. The symposium gave us some new ideas on how to implement ANT and allowed us the perspective of other company’s plans for ANT. Invaluable was the shared experiences of other members mastering and implementing ANT. There is no lack of enthusiasm, excitement or ideas for continued ANT growth. We'll see you there next year!”
Thomas Flanigan, President, MOT: Momentum of Technology
“I want to tell you how much I enjoyed the symposium. I made some great connections there which will be very valuable as I move from prototype to manufacturing to distribution. It is also great to be part of ANT+ which is so much more open, with over 90 companies involved, than other products in the industry. At the same time ANT+ is not stymied by politics and self interests like Bluetooth. Since using ANT I have been continually been impressed with the level of support and professionalism that Dynastream has give my company. Dynastream continued to excel with the symposium by offering a great deal of practical information with strategic relationship building.”
Neil Szuminsky - VP Product Development, LifeChek
"I have found that ANT+ is the only wireless network truly designed for personal sensor networks that delivers what it promises - if not more - both in terms of power and data throughput. As a sensor producer, the ANT+ Alliance allows us to focus on sensing as it opens a wealth of potential readout devices that would otherwise be too expensive to develop independently.
The 2008 Symposium was an outstanding success! It was an excellent opportunity to meet and greet the other members of the Alliance. And more importantly, it gave LifeChek, as prmarily a 'data provider,' a chance to better understand potential interactions with the 'data display' companies. I will certainly be attending the next symposium!"
