ANT SensRcore™ -  Simplifying Design

ANT is also strongly impacting the wireless market with SensRcore, ANT’s unique 2.4GHz WSN development platform that dramatically simplifies, accelerates and lowers the cost of designing ultra-low power wireless solutions.
  • Easy-to-use development platform.
  • Eliminates the need for an application host MCU.
  • Dramatically simplifies, accelerates and lowers the cost of designing ultra-low power wireless sensors.
  • Designers can now configure and program reliable and practical wireless sensor devices in hours vs days, from standard components via simple commands through the chip or module’s serial interface.
  • Firmware programming is replaced by simply writing a SensRcore script with standard configuration commands, which is built on top of the ANT protocol.

Ease and Flexibility

Developed for maximum design ease and flexibility, SensRcore (released June 07), eliminates the need for an application host MCU and custom firmware programming. SensRcore provides a scripted sensor programming language which enables the sensor application code to run in the ANT communication protocol base band processor, eliminating the need for an additional host processor to run the application. This further reduces system size (10-20%), cost (20-30%) and power consumption (20-40%).
Both sensor data acquisition and ANT radio control parameters are covered in the SensRcore script. The current SensRcore™ function allows for direct analog or digital sampling, frequency counting and digital output.

  • SensRcore Allows Maximum Design Flexibility
  • Each SensRcore I/O pin is individually configurable with the ability to select multiple reference voltages for analog inputs to provide analog-to-digital conversion with 10-bit precision.
  • Input sampling can be either interrupt driven (counter mode), poll-based according to the ANT message period, or periodically generated by an internal timer (when simple analog-to-digital filtering is to be applied).
  • Multiple data channels (sources) can be associated with a single ANT channel that will transmit data on every message period.
  • Each data type has its own pre-defined packet format comprising data and all other necessary information.
  • Multiple sensor configurations can be written in one script and segmented into pages. These pages can then be selected through external device pin settings.

Writing and Loading SensRcore™ Script

An easy-to-use PC tool, SensRware, is provided to facilitate writing SensRcore script. By simply clicking buttons to indicate the intention, the SensRcore script can be automatically generated and written using any text editor. Saved SensRcore script can then be uploaded to ANT modules or chips using ANTware. Both software are available in the ANT development kit.

SensRcore 2 ™

Taking the base advantages of SensRcore to a new level is SensRcore 2 – currently being released. SensRcore 2 further refines the simplicity and functionality of the previous version with the key additional ability of conditional scripting. This function allows set points and alarms to trigger special actions including turning radio communication on and off. Designers and developers will find SensRcore 2 particularly effective in creating advanced function, input that is condition sensitive, power optimized wireless sensors and networks.
