Watching social media on TV

Lately I’ve been trying to show some TikTok edits to a couple of friends without everyone crowding around my phone, but I’m not sure what method is the least annoying. AirPlay works sometimes, but my old TV gets picky and disconnects at random. I don’t really need anything fancy — just something that doesn’t freeze when scrolling fast or switching between TikTok and Instagram. If anyone’s found a simple setup that actually works smoothly, I’d love to hear about it.

I ran into the same problem when I tried to show clips during a small get-together. What helped me was using an app instead of relying on the TV’s built-in casting. I tried a few, but the one that handled videos, scrolling, and even short reels without stuttering was the one I used to Stream iPhone games to TV . Even though I originally downloaded it for games, it ended up being great for TikTok and Instagram because the connection stayed stable and didn’t lag every time I switched apps. Might be worth trying if AirPlay keeps acting up.

Watching people demo different mirroring apps always cracks me up, because someone inevitably forgets they have notifications on and the whole room ends up seeing random messages pop up on the screen. It reminds me to double-check my settings every time I connect anything, especially if I’m around friends who love to comment on every little pop-up.
