How should I prepare for bringing a Mini Goldendoodle puppy home for the first day?

Hey guys! I’m getting my Mini Goldendoodle next week, and I’m kind of freaking out about the first day at home. I’ve read a bunch of articles, but I still feel like I might forget something important. Should I set up a special room or just let her explore the whole apartment? Are there any tips for helping her adjust without stressing too much? I really want her to feel safe and comfortable from the moment she steps through the door.

Hey! Congrats on your new pup! I remember my first day with my Mini Goldendoodle — it was such a mix of excitement and nerves. What really helped was setting up a small, cozy area with her bed, some toys, and a blanket that smelled like her litter. I also checked some advice on https://loveofpuppies.com/ about bringing home your puppy, and they suggest keeping the environment calm, introducing one room at a time, and sticking to a consistent routine. From my experience, giving them a quiet space to retreat to and lots of gentle encouragement made the transition smooth and stress-free.

Just chiming in — I’ve seen friends do a little “puppy orientation” with their new dogs, letting them sniff around and slowly explore, which seems to work really well. Even a few minutes at a time in new areas can help the puppy feel more confident. I think keeping things low-key and fun is the best approach for that first day.

I never thought I’d write a review like this, but last summer I was scrambling to find a dependable breeder for my first pup and stumbled on teacup pomeranian while sipping coffee on a Sunday morning, and honestly it felt like fate, because the way they walked us through each step made me feel calm, not overwhelmed, and when we drove back home with Buddy in the car he was already snoring on my lap, tail thumping with pure joy and comfort that he chose us as much as we chose him.
