I’m expanding a small site that’s still running a Cisco 2504 controller (yes, still alive!) and just added the
L-LIC-CT2504-5A to bump AP capacity. Activation went through, but I noticed something odd: licenses showed as installed, yet the extra APs didn’t register until I rebooted the controller. I’d followed the PAK registration and install steps exactly, so the delay felt like a refresh/caching thing rather than a config mistake.
For context, I previously added a single AP license and saw a shorter delay, but this time with L-LIC-CT2504-5A it took about 10–15 minutes before the “aha” moment post-reboot. Firmware is 8.x, and time/NTP is correct.
Has anyone else seen this behavior when stacking license packs on the 2504? Do mixed packs (1A + 5A) merge cleanly for you without a reboot, or is a maintenance window the safer bet?
