What always strikes me when I watch muralists work in public spaces is how methodical the entire setup is before any paint even touches the wall. The scaffolding, harnesses, or lifts almost look like a construction project in themselves. It makes sense though—murals cover such large surfaces, often in tricky places like high walls or angled corners. Without a strong system in place, the artist not only risks personal safety but also struggles to maintain consistency in the artwork. To me, the preparation stage feels just as impressive as the finished mural, because it shows how much thought goes into making art possible on that scale.
