I’ve used a few different help authoring tools, but I still haven’t found the perfect fit. There’s always something missing—like, maybe it doesn’t support a certain format or the interface is clunky. Last year, I picked one just because it exported to PDF, but then it turned out to be a pain for team projects. What features do you all consider *must-haves* when choosing a help authoring tool?

Great question! I’ve tried a bunch too, and I agree there’s no perfect tool, but I definitely have a checklist now. For me, support for multiple output formats is essential, as well as an easy-to-use editor. The one I settled on had (help authoring tool features https://www.helpsmith.com like collaboration, template management, and a solid search function. Being able to add images and update content quickly is huge too. And if you work with a team, something with version control is a lifesaver. Maybe check out some demos and see what feels right for your workflow!
