I am an iOS (iPhone iPad) Developer. I recently started learning about hardware. My goal is to create a power meter for a bike. I am new so I have a couple questions.

1. How is the Ant chip programmed? Is there a specicifc language?

2. Is the Ant chip the only chip needed? For example if I want to use strain gauges to meassure power can I connect the strain gauges directly to the Ant chip, and then send out the data?

3. Is there any getting started guides that walk me through how things work?

I am sorry I am so new. These questions may not even be the right questions to ask. If not please let me know.

Thanks,

You need to use an external microcontroller, ANT chips only provide the wireless connectivity part of the system. You can use the microcontroller of your choice, to handle both communication with ANT and your sensor implementation.

Thank you very much for your help. Would books on the Arduino be a good place to start? I am learning about electronic now with the book Make Electronics. Trying to determine the next logical step to get me where I need to be.

Take care,
