Is spiritual care from a chaplain a required part of hospice services or can patients choose to skip it?

My neighbor's mom received hospice care and mentioned that a chaplain visited regularly. I’m not religious, but I wonder if spiritual support is optional or standard in hospice programs?

In my experience, chaplain services were offered as part of the hospice care chicago , but they were completely optional. Since I’m not religious either, I appreciated that these visits were available but not mandatory — spiritual support is there if you want it, but no pressure
