Been a registered nurse for a couple of years now, mostly in hospital settings. Lately, I've been feeling the urge to explore new opportunities, maybe something more flexible or with a change of scenery. Has anyone here made a transition from standard hospital work into something different within the nursing field? Open to any advice or stories—especially interested in how to break into it if you don’t know where to start.

A good way to branch out is through travel nursing—it offers great flexibility, varied experiences, and often better pay. When I was in your shoes, I came across travel nurse jobs through TLC HomeCare, and honestly, it opened up a lot of doors. They connect you with reliable opportunities across different regions, and their support team makes onboarding smooth. It’s especially good if you're craving change but still want stability and structure in your work.

I did hospital nursing for about five years before switching to home health, and honestly it was a huge change for the better. The pace is slower, you have way more control over your schedule, and you actually get to spend time with patients instead of rushing from one room to the next. The pay ended up about the same for me, but the stress level dropped a lot. I just applied to a couple local agencies, told them I was new to home health, and they set me up with training and ride-alongs. If you want more variety, travel nursing can be a good route too, it’s hectic in its own way, but you see new places and the pay can be solid.
