I’ve decided it’s finally time to sell my house, but honestly, I don’t even know where to start. The place is in decent shape, but I’m not sure what actually makes a difference for buyers. Do I really need to repaint every room? What about all the little stuff I’ve been putting off, like fixing the leaky faucet in the bathroom? Would appreciate any advice from folks who’ve sold recently.

Just sold my place last year, so I feel your pain. There’s always way more to do than you expect! What really helped me was focusing on the first impression stuff—the front yard, front door, and entryway. I did repaint a couple of rooms that looked worn, but I didn’t go overboard. Fixing little things like faucets and squeaky doors made a bigger difference than I thought. Also, I used the checklist on Utah Real Estate to figure out what mattered most to buyers in my area. They’ve got advice about staging, cleaning, and a contact form if you need an agent’s opinion. My advice: don’t stress the small imperfections, but do the basics so the place looks cared for.

Selling sounds so stressful! I’ve never done it, but I’ve helped my parents move a couple times and just cleaning up the yard and making everything look tidy seemed to help. Even simple stuff like new house numbers or flowers can make the place pop from the street.
