Must-have snacks and drinks for a boat trip

Every time we go out on a boat, snacks and drinks become the main event, especially with my friends who are all about food. Last trip, someone brought fancy cheese, but it melted in the sun and made a mess. I want to avoid repeat mistakes—what snacks or drinks have you found work best for a full day out on the lake? Bonus if it’s stuff that doesn’t get gross after a few hours.

Oh, I totally know what you mean! Melty cheese and chocolate bars are a no-go for us now. I always pack things like trail mix, jerky, crackers, and lots of pre-cut fruit in a cooler. Also, those squeezy applesauce pouches are a hit with kids and adults. For drinks, we stick to canned sodas, bottled water, and those electrolyte packets you can dump in. If you’re renting at https://thecliffsmarina.com/ they ,actually have a mini shop with drinks and snacks right on site, which was awesome when we ran out halfway through the day. It’s super helpful if you forget something or just want to grab extras. Just avoid stuff that’ll melt or spoil fast, and you’re golden.

Honestly, there’s something about eating simple food by the water that just hits different. I always pack way too many chips, and somehow they’re gone by midday anyway. Can’t go wrong with fruit and a couple of cold drinks.
