Why is the “Safety on the Road” campaign important for improving road safety in Zambia?

Hey everyone, just thought I’d throw this out there — lately I’ve been thinking a lot about road safety, especially after something that happened last week. I was heading home from work late at night, and this minibus flew past the red light right in front of me. If I hadn’t hit the brakes in time, things could’ve gone real bad. It got me wondering how many people are aware of traffic rules, or even care to follow them. I read about the “Safety on the Road” campaign and it seems like a step in the right direction. But I’m curious — do things like this really help in the long run, or are people just too set in their ways?

Totally hear you. I’ve had a few near misses myself, especially on those busy intersections where no one seems to care about signals. What makes this campaign stand out for me is that it's not just about putting up posters or doing a one-time event. They’re actually doing late-night roadshows, talks with drivers, and putting the message out there where people live and work. I think it helps, especially with the younger crowd who aren’t stuck in old habits yet. If you’re curious to check out more about how they’re doing it, I found this under the 1xbet ambassador
program — it’s got some cool insights into how they mix entertainment and education. Kinda gives me hope that things might slowly shift in a better direction.

Not sure if this fits exactly here, but I’ve noticed lately how many drivers use phones while driving — it’s actually kind of scary. Maybe we need stricter checks or even more community-led talks. Campaigns help, yeah, but people also need to take responsibility for their own behavior. Just my two cents.
