When someone clicks my affiliate link but doesn't buy right away, then comes back a few days later and makes a purchase, will I still get credit for that sale? I've heard about cookies and time windows but don't really understand how they work in practice.      

That's an excellent question. Yes, in most cases you will still get credit for that sale, thanks to a tracking cookie. When someone clicks your unique link, a cookie with your ID is stored in their browser for a specific time window, ranging from 24 hours to 90 days. If they purchase within that period, the system recognizes your ID and attributes the sale to you. This is how affiliate links can generate commissions from delayed purchases, rewarding you for the initial introduction even if the customer needs time to decide.
