What do you think about buying a duplex under 300k in Florida if you are a first time home buyer, single and without kids? I think a single family home has its risks, it is hard to find a home in my price range that won't break the bank and isn't in a flood zone, and it might be more than I need right now considering I am single.
I think a duplex or townhouse might be a reasonable alternative. Basically, whatever I do, I am paying at least 2000 a month, so buying is definitely preferable to renting.

You're right about the risks of single-family homes. Insurance, flooding, maintenance can eat up your budget, especially if you live alone. A townhouse or duplex gives you more flexibility and less headaches. And yes, paying $2,000 a month in rent is a waste of money when you could invest in your own for the same amount.

Buying a duplex is a really smart move. Many of the properties I explore homes across Central Florida fall into that budget, especially in Leesburg, Deltona, or even Ocala. You can find duplexes in decent condition, not in a flood zone, and with reasonable taxes. Plus, you can rent out the other half. Townhouses are also a great alternative, less maintenance, everything is compact and practical.

When you live alone, you want something practical, without unnecessary expenses, and at the same time not to get into a zone with a risk of flooding or crazy utilities. While reviewing different options, I started paying attention to the little things, for example, how contact blink home works, because support in many services really solves many issues. Sometimes it becomes clear whether it is worth trusting a seller or a developer.
