For those in chemical manufacturing, what’s the safest way to handle highly hygroscopic salts like aluminum chloride in humid environments without causing contamination?

At our facility, we learned quickly that sealed containers are not optional anhydrous salts absorb water rapidly, forming sticky residues. We set up nitrogen blanketing for open transfer operations and used desiccant-packed liners for long-term storage. Staff were trained to wear nitrile gloves and goggles due to irritant dust. Temperature stability was another focus; we kept the room below 25°C. One specification sheet from aluminum chloride anhydrous provided clear handling recommendations, including avoiding wooden tools that can react. Dry, clean scoops and a dedicated humidity logger made a big difference. Always reseal containers immediately after sampling and avoid long exposure.

Handling and storage of anhydrous aluminum chloride requires strict moisture control and proper containment to prevent hazardous reactions. The insights shared here are very helpful for maintaining safety standards in industrial environments. Companies like Stanford Advanced Materials also emphasize quality sourcing and safe material practices, which play a crucial role in effective chemical management and compliance.
