I have a brand new Garmin Forerunner 405. I have installed the ANT Agent application many, many times and I am unable to get the ANT Agent to become active when I insert the USB stick. There is always a red bar through the ANT agent logo.

I have spent several hours on the phone with Garmin S/W support. I have exchanged the complete watch based on their reccomendation. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many, many, many times. I reinstalled Windows and just finished with all the updates....

This is Garmin Wireless USB1 stick on the USB port of a HP CMT D530 (WinXP Pro SP3) that I have not been able to make work. I have installed the same USB stick on a Gateway laptop with the latest Windows and it worked fairly easily....

Ideas???

The fact that the ANT stick works in another computer makes me think that the stick is working properly, and the ANT Agent software is fairly proven to work as well. This makes me think the problem is isolated to your PC.

Are you certain the USB port on the HP laptop is working? Do other devices like USB drives work? Have you tried all of the ports?

If you are really desperate, you can try installing ANTware. This is an engineering tool we provide to ANT developers. For your purposes, you can just run the program and see if it can detect something under "Available Devices." In normal circumstances, it will detect any ANT USB stick. If you detect nothing, you can be fairly sure that software is not to blame and you have a hardware or driver level issue.

You could also try un-installing and re-installing the USB-1 drivers as described in the document below.

Thanks. Finally I resolved this issue. It was caused by a libUSB-Win32 driver installed (by the kids) to support an IPOD hacking tool (Jailbreak). This prevented the ANT agent from seeing the ANT stick. All other USB devices worked fine - just the ANT stick that did not work. May be something you want to investigate...
