Clarification on fitness equiptment mode

I am trying to connect to Lemond Power Pilot to get power data off it which uses the Fitness equipment mode device profile.

I am looking at trying to pull power data off the Power Pilot similar to the way the Garmin Forerunner 310XT does which must be put into fitness equiptment mode to allow communication with the Lemond Power Pilot. The Pilot computes the power based on a number of parameters which I do not have access to although I have been able to read the raw data sensors using ANTware. I am hoping to get power data from the Power Pilot using ANTware and ANT-FS PC tools but I don't know if I should start with being a Host or Client.

According to fitness equipment profile the display device is the client, which I am assuming is the Power Pilot, does that mean that the Forerunner is configured as a host, as it gather real time Power data from the Power Pilot?

If this is the case why is there only embedded firmware for the client side, as I want to eventually move this to an embedded design?

Thanks in advance

The display is the watch.
If you are implementing the "watch" side, you need to implement the client.
