I installed ANT Radio service and Ant+ demo, but cannot get it run on Xperia mini 4.0.4. I see "ENABLING ANT..." and nothing happens.

There are lots of communication errors in the log:

Is ANT+ enabled in the "Performance Assistant"?
You may need to restart your phone after checking the ANT+ box.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem, after I have upgraded my Xperia mini to Android 4.0.4. It worked already fine on Android 2.3.4.

ANT+ is activated in the Performance Assistant, the device tells me that the service is running, but the ANT+ Demo App only tells me: Enable -> ANT+. And nothing happens, I can press the button endless. I also have turned off the device and removed the battery after that. It doesn't change. I also updated the ANT+ Radio Service already.

If I open LogCat in Eclipse, it also tells me:

12-25 13:19:15.423: E/ANTSocketManagerThread(1870): ANT Radio Service transport error - communication with system service failed
12-25 13:19:15.427: E/ANTSocketManagerThread(1870): rxThread: AntHalService socket communication failed

12-25 13:19:15.427: E/ANTSocketManagerThread(1870): rxThread: Socket connection closed unnexpectedly. Attempting reconnection (after 6 second pause).

Any suggestions? Got the problem solved already?
Seems that Android 4.0.4 speaks another language now, on HAL (HardwareAbstractionLayer) basis.

Many thanks!!!

P.S. I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro (model number SK17i), Kernel version 2.6.32.9-perf, Build number 4.1.B.0.587. The Android Update came via the Sony PC Companion 2.1 software.

Well, since I'm a student and since I have to finish my research paper asap and since the Sony Support tells me to contact this page, I took the risk and flashed the old Android 2.3.4 on the phone again and the ANT+ Demo works now again!!!

Thanks to WotanServer (http://www.wotanserver.com/en/page/tutorial-debranding-flash-sony-ericsson) !!!
It was worth the €1.99 for me.

Problem solved in my special case!

Fortunately, I only need this for this special research paper.

I hope that the problem gets solved sometime in the future!!!
Not for me, I use another phone from another vendor and without ANT+, but for others because ANT+ is used for medical devices in the main!!!

I had the exact same problem with both the Xperia arc and Xperia active. In the Performance Assistant app ANT was enabled yet it didn't work.

I then disabled ANT in the Performance Assistant, rebooted the phone, enabled ANT in the Performance Assistant again and rebooted once more. Now ANT+ Demo works.

(IMHO it's a bit embarassing how many issues Sony produced with their firmware updates. Forums all over the net show a lot of different problems after updates. And I don't understand the idea behind the Performance Assistant app: why not make another entry in the Settings? That's where anyone would expect it...)
