Why is this so hard?

Seems like ANT+ makes things super easy for developers. I've had the SDK downloaded for 20 minutes and have running code showing my heart rate on my Note 4. Yet MapMyRide's ANT+ support has been broken for at least 4 months (immediately crashes every time when trying to find sensors) and Strava has yet to release theirs even to the beta group. In fact, I can't find a single Android bike computer app that seems to be a genuine replacement for a standalone bike computer and actually uses all the sensors. So why is this? Are these vendors trying to build solutions without using the ANT+ service or plugins? Surely their devs are capable of integrating these items... I'm just sort of baffled that I'm sitting here thinking I'm going to have to implement this myself just so I can use it. Can that really be?

Your not looking too well on play then.

There is also a list of certified apps in the product directory.

Thanks for responding. I did find that earlier but the bike app itself wasn't able to find the sensors and it wanted me to download a separate sensor manager. I later did that and I saw that it does work but does that mean the ANT+ service and plugin are not used with this app either? Or is the sensor manager layered on top of them?

IpBike was written well before the Plugins API's were available. If the forum history goes back far enough I posted requesting the Multi app type API functionality. The lack of it was the main reason for the separate IpSensorMan app so at least I could have multiple apps using the sensors concurrently.

There is a beta version of IpSensorMan which uses the plugins lib for everything apart from bike power where I just have not had the time to move over, all that calibration stuff means lots of code to mess with going to the plugins API's.
