Hey

I am a bit confused. Is it really necessary to have 2 USB sticks to be able to develop software for a Vivosmart @HR.

No, but it depends on what you're trying to do. If I recall correctly, the Vivosmart HR only supports broadcasting ANT+ HR data, so if you'd like to receive that data on your PC you will need 1 ANT USB Stick.
