Monitoring a cycling studio

Hi,

I'm new to ANT+, so sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm still reading a lot of docs.

What kind of setup is necessary to monitor a cycling studio with a couple dozen ANT+ capable bikes, and also people HRM's.

I imagine a USB dongle receiving data broadcasted by all the devices?
How is range an issue? Is this usually bounded by the Tx power or the Rx power?
Will I need some kind of bridge solution?
How many devices can I monitor?

Thanks,
Danilo

Hi,

The most convenient solution would be some form of ANT to Ethernet or WiFi bridge in order to be able to reliably cover a large space by using a few of them, but a single USB dongle should be able to capture up to 50 ANT+ devices or so assuming they're within range.

Have a look at the WASP-N wifi bridge from North Point Engineering. I'm using it with some success in a velodrome setting.
