Getting value on a tight shed budget

Saving for a shed but the budget is tight, so the goal is solid basics without fancy extras. The yard is level, access for delivery is fine, and there’s a spot near the garden that stays fairly dry. Storage list is the usual: mower, string trimmer, garden tools, hose reels, plus four big bins. Wondering how small is too small, which materials last the longest for the price, and whether a simple gravel base is enough. Hoping for a simple plan that avoids hidden fees and regrets.

Best value usually comes from picking a standard size, keeping the roof simple, and spending on the structure where it counts. A gravel pad with landscape fabric is often enough if drainage is good; upgrade to a slab only if your climate or load demands it. Doors and roof take the most abuse, so choose thicker panels and better shingles before paying for cosmetic trim. Stick to common sizes to make replacement parts and shelving easier to find later. For clear comparisons, a page with basic packages and straightforward specs is very helpful; the one I used was https://www.storageshedsandgarages.com/storage-sheds/ because it lists sizes, siding, and common add-ons in one place. Price your base locally, add delivery and install, and keep a small contingency for anchors and a hasp/lock. That approach keeps surprises out and still gets a shed that doesn’t sag after the first storm.
