Hi

I 'd like to create a software using ANT USB stick, DLLs and .NET wrapper to get live data from ANT devices.

Do I need to acquire some license to use ANT technologies and components or being an ANT adopter is enough ?

Will it be different if I sell this software ? or if I use it in commercial events ?

Thanks in advance,

ANT+ Software tools (including the ANT libraries) are available for free to ANT+ Adopters, and subject to the ANT+ Shared Source License

I think I need to be enlightened about some parts of the ANT+ Shared Source License :

[...]

the software is used in combination with ANT or ANT+ products only;

[...]

The following actions are prohibited:
[...]

- use of the software in combination with wireless formats other than ANT or ANT+;

[...]

Does it mean that :

- I can use the ANT components (DLLs...) to communicate with ANT devices only , if I want to communicate with non-ANT devices I must not use ANT DLLs.

OR

- My software which will use the ANT DLLs must communicate with ANT devices only. Communication with non-ANT devices is not permitted even if it is not made using ANT DLLs.

Thanks in advance,

The first interpretation is the correct one:
One can use the ANT components (DLLs...) to communicate with ANT devices only. Communication with non-ANT devices must not use ANT DLLs.

This also means that implementations of the ANT+ Device Profiles, ANT-FS, etc. must not be used on wireless transports other than ANT.

Combo wireless devices that bridge between protocols or that offer multi-protocol support are part of the active ANT+ ecosystem today, and we expect that they will continue to add value and flexibility to products that connect into the ecosystem.
