In addition to these metrics they’ll be introducing two new metrics being added to the ANT+ Power Meter profile: ‘Torque Efficiency’ and ‘Pedal Smoothness’. Torque efficiency speaks to the ratio of positive and negative power – in other words, how much your pulling up versus pushing down. Pedal Smoothness is how even your pedaling is over the course of the stroke. This is similar to Spin Scan as found on a CompuTrainer.

I'm wondering if there is any draft details that anyone knows about these new metrics which where implied to be added to the Power Meter Profile. Anyone heard any news?

Hi kwakeham,

It seems that news travels fast!

We do have a new version of the Bike Power profile in development. ANT+ Alliance Members have access to Beta versions of profiles, and we work together with them while development is taking place. Membership info is available on our website (thisisant.com).

Once the profiles are stable, we release them publically and all ANT+ Adopters are able to access them. We don't release details before a profile is stable to avoid confusion.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the update. I've been developing a L/R measuring meter in my free time and I've been working on converting some algorithms I developed in grad school to provide similar metrics. Then I heard Rotor and the ANT+ Alliance was doing most of the heavy lifting for me, so I was just curious.

Thanks for the update Kat
