I'm trying to use ANTWareII (4.1) to monitor a HRM

I've installed ANTWareII, and have a USB sticks available. ANTWareII recognizes "Device A".

Then I set:
1. Chanel: Slave
2. Device #: 0
3. Device Type: 120
4. Channel Period: 8070
5. Radio Frequency: 57

At this point, I'm expecting to hit 'Auto Open' and see the ~4 Hz data coming from the HRM.

To check that the hrm is trasmining I run SimulANT+ and it works

But clearly there is something else I need to do, and I don't know what.

I Attach my log File.

Please help.

Hi.
You also need to configure the ANT+ network key:
Click on the drop down arrow next to Device A and input the ANT+ key on the Info/Net panel, then click on "Set Network Key" on your chosen Net # (remember to select the same Net # later on the Channel Assignment panel when configuring your channel..)

Hope this helps.

The ANT+ Network Key is not all zeroes. You can find it, together with the terms of use, here: http://www.thisisant.com/developer/ant-plus/ant-plus-basics/network-keys

I had the same questions and it worked fine for me. I used the initial Device # 0, Device Type 0 and Trans. Type 0 and let it find my HRM (Timex). After connecting with Auto-Open, selecting Get ID showed it as "Dev#: 0, DevType: XXX, TransType: X".

Q1. Where do I find the information that says I must use this specific period and channel frequency, and why can't I use wildcards for them?

Q2. Where do I find the information for a specific Device #, Device Type and Trans. Type before connecting so I can isolate the search to that particular device?

Hi Hawkeye,

I edited your post above to remove the device type and transmission from view. Please only post info (such as this) that is specific to ANT+ device profiles in the ANT+ section of this forum. **Edit - apologies, just realised that this thread is in the ANT+ section - I just got to it from the ANTwareII forum which is not protected**

To answer your questions, the channel configuration parameters for ANT+ devices are specified in the ANT+ Device Profiles (which you can download from here: ttp://www.thisisant.com/developer/resources/downloads/).

You can use wildcards for the device type, device number and transmission type, at which point the receiver will connect to the first device that it finds.

I would recommend taking a look at the info in our getting started sections:

ANT: http://www.thisisant.com/developer/ant/ant-basics/

ANT+: http://www.thisisant.com/developer/ant-plus/ant-antplus-defined/

Alternatively if you just want to receive from specific ANT+ devices and have no need to understand the background, then I'd recommend just using SimulANT+ (instead of ANTwareII) as it has all the channel parameters pre-configured for you. http://www.thisisant.com/developer/resources/software-tools/

Hope that helps,

Kat

The ANT+ network key is 8 hex values and is shown below:

The ANT+ network key is not in xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx format rather in 8 hex values 0xfb etc. How do I input the correct values?

Hi imginit,

Instead of, for example, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, you remove the hex notation and use FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF.

Cheers

Hi Cary.Feng,

The key you have listed below is the public network key. You need to use the ANT+ Network key, available at https://www.thisisant.com/developer/ant-plus/ant-plus-basics/network-keys.

Hi BK,

I also test with the ANT+ Network Key, then clicked the button "Get Status" and it shows that:

Getting Channel Status...
Received Status: ASSIGNED_0x1
Network Number: Not Available
Type: Not Available

Hi Cary.Feng,

Are you simulating a HRM Master or Slave on ANTWare II?

Please configure your channel according to the ANT+ HRM Device Profile available on the downloads page. Please also note that if you are running a slave, then an HRM master must be transmitting in the vicinity for you to be able to receive messages.

Please also remember to click Auto-Open. Notice how status says "Assigned" and not "Searching" or "Tracking".

Hi, I'm having this same problem trying to monitor a HRM

I already set as following:
1. Chanel: Slave
2. Device #: 0
3. Device Type: 120
4. Channel Period: 8070
5. Radio Frequency: 57
6. ANT+ Network Key as can be found here https://www.thisisant.com/developer/ant-plus/ant-plus-basics/network-keys

But when I clicked on Auto-Open, it keeps on telling me
EVENT_RX_FAIL_0x02

When I clicked on the button "Get Status" while Auto-Open is on, it shows:
Getting Channel Status...
Received Status: TRACKING_0x3
Network Number: Not Available
Type: Not Available

I noticed also that the channel state text on the upper part of the Channel pane is changing.
The first time I clicked Auto-Open it says "SlaveSearch~ID:0,120,0"
And then when the EVENT_RX_FAIL_0x02 comes up, it changes to "SlaveRx~ID:XXXXX,120,1"
XXXX is the Device Number.
With this change, I assume that my HRM is detected but it fails to connect and transmit data.

The HRM is working just fine. I can connect it to SimulANT+ with no problem.

I think I have configured the channel according to the ANT+ HRM Device Profile. I don't know what is missing.
