Hi,

I am currently developing an application using ANT+ for Android. According to the weight scale device profile document, a smartphone is considered to be a mobile display, and thereby do not require pairing. In the ANT demo-application, on the other hand, I saw that some pairing was done to find a specific device based on its number.

My question is then : what are the advantages of integrating pairing option to an application, since it was originally designed to work without it?

Whether you need pairing or not depends on the use case. The demo was originally developed to be showcased at trade shows, where the app was intended to be demonstrated with a particular scale and pairing made sense in this situation.
