ANT+ Glucose Monitor Display development inquiries

Hi,
I wish to develop a display app that can interact with ANT+ Glucose Monitor.
I’d like to ask you some questions.

1. Are there ANT+ Glucose Monitor products being released?

2. Is there a Device Profile for ANT+ Glucose Monitor?
I can't find a Device Profile document for ANT+ Glucose Monitor.
(Presumably, ANT+ MEMBER access only.)
Tell the presence of the Device Profile for ANT+ Glucose Monitor. And tell whether the limited access allowed.
If openly available document, please provide the path to the document.

3. Are there any methods that can simulate about ANT+ Glucose Monitor?
Not available in the ANT+ Simulator for Glucose Monitor, can't find the device type of Glucose Monitor.
How do I get started without an ANT+ Glucose Monitor?
(Is possible using the Custom Sensor of ANT + Simulator? Would you elaborate a bit on that?)

Thanks.
Have a nice day.

Thanks for your questions. I'll answer them in order:

1. The first ANT+ continuous glucose monitor is in development. It is being created by Dexcom.
2. Yes, there is a beta version of the ANT+ Glucose device profile. Beta profiles are accessible only to ANT+ Alliance Members. If you are interested in becoming a member you can find out more here: http://www.thisisant.com/my-ant/members/ otherwise, you can wait until the profile is released to ANT+ Adopters.
3. Profiles that are at beta stage are not included in the main simulator package. Instead they are in the beta version of the simulator that is available to members.

I can't give you any indication of when the glucose profile will be released to Adopters, although typically profiles are released shortly after the first products are released.

Hope that helps!

There is another one from http://www.hmm.info , the smartLAB®genie+ that has ANT communications, you can find it on their site.

Thanks for the info. My understanding is that smartLAB genie+ uses ANT to communicate, but does not use the ANT+ Glucose profile - i.e. it is a proprietary implementation.

Dear All.

We from HMM had to make proprietary protocol since there is no released version of ANT+. As soon as this device profile is releaed we will bring it into market.

As a diabetic who uses a Dexcom G4 continuous blood glucose monitor I would love to have an app that would allow me to use my cell phone as a display device instead of carrying another device around with me. If there is one out there I would appreciate input. I have personally asked Dexcom for this functionality and I was told that it was in the works. I have never written any app but I have now found perhaps the best incentive for me. Thanks in advance for any input and to thisisant.com for the great website. I am not out to try and make a buck only to get something that I have personally been looking for.

Having an APP for this device is not an issue of just making the app. The issue is about the regulation that you have to follow and also clear from the authorities. If you make your own app then it is fine but if you want to sell it, then you have to certify it so you are able to do that. That is the reason why Dexcom did not come out with this app.

Please consider

I did not make this clear but as I said I am not out to make a buck meaning this is something I would like for myself-not for monetary reasons. No need to follow regulations. I am open for input on resources to do this as I am not an app writer. Thanks for the concern.

Hi X Perry Mentor,

I would check with Dexcom whether the product you are uses the ANT+ CGM Device Profile, as I think it pre-dates that. If it does, then you would need to sign up as an ANT+ Member (cost $1500) to download the device profile (as it's still in beta release it is not available yet to ANT+ Adopters), and you would need Dexcom to let you know the permission key for the device.

Could be worth checking again with Dexcom whether they can give you more information about when/if their app will be available.

Kind regards,

Kat
