I am glad to see the Bike Radar Profile has been made available. I am looking to add support into IpBike.

Are there any plans to add support to the Android Plugins API's? I can spin my own support fairly simply as the spec is nice and simple but if there is a Plugins update coming with support I may hold off.

Also what is the situation with regards to simulation? Is there a new SimulANT update in the works with support? I am getting a device for real life testing but being able to have some simple scripted car passing type scenarios with SimulANT would make initial development and testing simpler.

Bike Radar support is not on the ANT+ Android Plugins roadmap at this time. Bike Radar is currently supported by SimulANT+ v2.0.1 (Member early release).

Having just received my Varia. It's not following the protocol channel setup wise but there do look to be some correctly numbered Bike radar pages on the Bike light channel. I will do some more experimenting assuming this is the radar data and see what I get out on the road.

Are there any updates that I may be missing or is it known to be a dodgy implementation. If it really is like this there the auto-shutdown want work as describe as there is a page number clash but maybe the light control style will do the trick...      

You'll need to update your Varia software.      

I was also glad to see the profile being made available to adopters, but it is somewhat disappointing to hear that there are no plans to support it in the Android ANT+ plug-ins API, particularly as the lower level API blocks access to the ANT+ networkf/frequency.

Or is there another way in Android to communicate with an ANT+ device the profile of which is not (yet) covered by the plug-ins API?

Regarding the Varia radar device: I have an RTL 501 and since I upgraded the firmware to 3.40 it can read it and issue commands to it via ANTware II (receive data pages, shutdown the radar device, abort a shutdown requested by the display unit (RDU) being turned off).       [ Edited: 02 March 2017 04:33 PM by QX270 ]
