Stupid question maybe - but in order to 'find' a device, does the device have to be moving in order for it to be discoverable?

I'm thinking given its a low voltage device, it will be asleep when static.

Might explain why I can't see any of my devices when they are sitting on the desk.      

Its very quiet on this forum - not helpful for a newbie.

Answered this myself. It does have to be moving to be discovered it seems. There is also a small delay before it starts sending data.

To answer your question, whether or not the sensor needs to be moving to transmit is manufacturer specific behavior and not defined by ANT+. If you are not able to track the device, shaking or taping the device might help wake it up (common manufacturer practices).
