I try to used the HRM example but I didn't understand the meaning of the field usAlarmMax inside the AlarmStruct. Could someone explain the main principle related to the alarm scheme.

The alarm is used for a timer to simulate heart beat events. Are you developing your own heart rate sensor? If so, this code would end up replaced by your own sensing code.
