with a 4 800 mha akku which lasts up to 22 hrs, a bluetooth keyboard and a display

inspired by the zero phone project

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sILwQ9uAogM&t=43s

you can build your own watch with your own operating system which fits for your needs.

Components

1. Rasperri PI zero W

2. Display with three hardware buttons and a joystick

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-44-inch-LCD-display-HAT-for-Raspberry-Pi-4-3-2-Zero-W-WH-128x128-pixels-SPI/272969126224?hash=item3f8e3a5150:g:g9UAAOSwTO9aJhHg

3. Battery and power solution for the Rasperri PI zero W

https://www.ebay.ch/itm/PI-Zero-UpTime-2-0-A-UPS-for-Pi-Zero-and-other-Raspberry-Pi-SBC-IoT/193049264475

There are ready made battery solution for Rasperri PI3, for Rasperri PI zero W components have to be build together.

4. Software components can be found here

More components to come...

Eventually, the zero phone project for 50 USD can be modified to become a zero watch project grin :

The zero phone costs about 50$ in parts, and all the parts are available on eBay/TaoBao/etc, most of the phone can be assembled with just a soldering iron. User interface is written using Python and is being morphed into a lightweight phone-tailored UI framework.

A crowdfunded manufacturing run is expected in a month - kits will be available, as well as a small batch of fully-assembled phones.

Will you have a kickstarter soon?

ZeroPhone Project

Yes, working on crowdfunding preparations today - among all things, going to go assemble a phone or two today, for the reviewers. In the meantime, I also help some people self-assembling ZeroPhones, we need more developers on this project and a bigger community (as well as more feedback from people actually using ZP), and self--assembly is a way to help with that before the large-scale manufacturing is finished.

There is a ZeroPhone Wiki!

https://wiki.zerophone.org/index.php/Main_Page

ZeroPhone is an open-source smartphone that can be assembled for 50$ in parts. It is Linux-powered, with UI software written in Python, allowing it it to be easily modifiable - and it doesn't prohibit you from changing the way it works.

Components and software are probably better than the components I suggested.

To be clear: components and software for the user interface of the Rasperri PI zero.

Maybe a user interface, keyboard an display is not necessary for all purposes.

To this date, tere is not even a standard device available to visualize Ant sensor data on a PC screen.

I use since a long time a android mini PC stick with THIS IS ANT software connected to a PC screen for visualization of the heart rate for this purpose.

Only a mini usb keyboard and a mouse are necessary to control this device.

Which software is best to start a Rasperry PI zero watch project?

For my needs, the Raspberry Pi Ant+ script which sends sensor data to a MQTT-Broker fits best for my needs:

Does someone already use this software?

A linux phone which is already commercially available is the PinePhone:

PINEPHONE First Impressions:

for developers, replacable battery, very rare these days for smartphones, 2 to 5 hours battery life.       [ Edited: 15 May 2020 02:39 PM by Yoyo2014 ]

Unfortunately, IpBike does not offer a live streaming option, or MQTT

And Niels Kiesling alias Cycle Nerd stopped a solution which should have worked to stream sensor data to Matlab

https://github.com/PeterGamma/What-happened-to-livetrack.io-

Which would have made things much more easier.       [ Edited: 15 May 2020 08:03 PM by Yoyo2014 ]

PinePhone batteries are standard batteries, which can replaced by bigger ones

A Linux PinePhone with a script which sends sensor data to a MQTT-Broker

https://www.thisisant.com/forum/viewthread/7360/

is probably the most comfortable way to stream ANT+ sensor data to a PC application (Matab or Python):

https://www.thisisant.com/forum/viewthread/7074/P60

Did someone already use this MQTT script?       [ Edited: 15 May 2020 02:04 AM by Yoyo2014 ]

A pinephone as the most comfortable way to get real-time data from a ANT+ sensor. How painful is this :-( .

There is already a Python Rasperri PI project, which shows a real-time heart rate plot on the screen. Very nice. Would be great to put all those components with the components discussed here into one community project:
